Streamlining Structural with Confidence (levels) 👍
Introducing Confidence Levels in Structural—because data protection shouldn’t slow you down. Now, Tonic Structural surfaces how confident it is that the data it flags during the Privacy Scan is indeed sensitive, along with enhanced, tailored recommendations for its protection. This transparency equips you to review your data more efficiently by focusing on risk levels rather than sifting through columns one by one.
To support this additional visibility, we've optimized our layout. Check out the updates to Structural’s Database View where you can now separately view the column protection status, sensitivity detection confidence level, and applied generator.
With nuanced confidence levels, we’re enabling smarter workflows and opening the door for more refined recommendations on risk and protection. It’s one more way we’re removing friction and putting you in control of your data. Onboard new data sets to scan and explore Tonic Structural’s confident data assessment.
Tailored entity detection in Textual 🪡
In addition to leveraging Tonic Textual’s proprietary NER models, you can now specify a list of additional values to include for each entity in a dataset. This enables Textual to detect sensitive values that it might not automatically identify because they are specific to your organization or industry. The list can contain both specific values and regular expressions. More nuanced NER control means more comprehensive data protection, all in the name of streamlining data usability.
Aggregated entity view in Textual 🪡
Tonic Textual has a brand new view to give you greater visibility into your data transformations. The Entities Manager view displays all the values detected as an entity in your data, allowing you to spot-check entity detection and synthesis by seeing exactly how Textual is working across the data in your dataset. Validate transformations with ease to gain confidence in the data fueling your AI workflows.
New authentication options for output-to-repos 🔒
When writing output to a container repository, Tonic Structural now provides some new options related to authentication. First off, to specify the credentials to connect to an Amazon ECR registry, you can now provide an assumed role instead of an access key and secret key. Second, you can also provide a custom password for the destination database user, instead of having Structural generate a password for you. Just a few more tools in your toolbox to simplify secure data access.

Salesforce integration: better, faster, stronger ⚙️
We’ve made a series of improvements to our Salesforce connector recently that up-level performance, reduce errors, and make it easier to debug any issues you encounter. Specifically, we’ve improved our picklist error handling, surfaced errors about sandbox size sooner in the pipeline, and rearchitected the connector so processes run faster and smoother. Take it for a spin or let your coworkers in RevOps know—Structural makes it easier to test Salesforce workflows with sandboxes, so you can be their hero.
G2 Best Support badge 🥰
We’re honored to have received G2’s exclusive Highest Quality of Support badge for Fall 2024 in the Data De-identification category. This award is given to only one company per category each season, and our receiving it is a testament to our incredible Customer Success team and to the feedback we receive from you, all of our steadfast Tonic enthusiasts. It is a pleasure to partner with our users on their developer productivity and data privacy journeys—and as always, we’re just an email away if you need us.
Small Updates; Big Impacts
Often it's the little things that matter most. Here's a round up of our smaller releases:
- In case automation is your thing, Structural has new API endpoints to enable and disable subsetting for a workspace. Wax on, wax off, for database minimization.
- For MongoDB users, we’ve added the environment setting TONIC_MONGO_MASK_FIELD_IDS. When set to true, Structural assigns the Mongo ObjectId Key generator to ObjectId field names, with consistency enabled and the default value set to false. Taking masking one step further in your NoSQL database.
- Structural’s new International Address Generator can generate street addresses and postal codes for Canada, and postal codes for the United Kingdom. 🇨🇦 🇬🇧
- Textual has expanded its redaction options to offer the following additional configuration settings for protecting sensitive data in .docx and PDF files:
- You can configure whether to redact or remove images in .docx files.
- You can choose to remove comments from .docx files.
- For PDF files, you can choose to detect and redact scanned signatures.
- Also in Textual, you can now use the Python SDK to configure Amazon S3 pipelines.
